AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Ensemble Season Actors for Pa’lante Theater Company

 

Description:  Pa’lante Theater Company (A program of the Afro Caribbean Cultural Center of Greater Waterbury) announces ensemble auditions for its inaugural season slate of shows – the first show is a full length play and world premiere of CALLING PUERTO RICO by Juan Ramirez Jr., second is a Musical Theater Review celebrating Latinx Contributions to Theater titled “Viva Teatro Waterbury! (Long Live Theater in Waterbury).

Synopsis:

 

CALLING PUERTO RICO

 

VIVA BROADWAY WATERBURY - - featuring AMERICAN MADE

 

Venue: Auditions, and rehearsals will be held at Afro Caribbean Cultural Center @ Heart & Sole Dance Studios (130 Scott Road, Waterbury, CT 06705).

 

Performances are presented and will be staged at 7 Angels Theater (1 Plank Road, Historic Hamilton Park Pavilion, Waterbury, CT 06705)

 

Payment: All actors will receive a stipend for the productions of CALLING PUERTO RICO & VIVA TEATRO WATERBURY/MADE IN AMERICA.     

 

Casting: 10 Actors

Auditions will take place on

Tuesday July 26th and Thursday, July 28th, 2022 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

 

((Call Backs will be the following week on Thursday August 4th, 2022 at 7:00 pm) 

We will see actors every 10 minutes.

Format: 

All Actors must bring current Headshot with Acting Resume (Note Headshot and Resume will not be returned).

 

For Calling Puerto Rico

In-person auditions; 2 contrasting contemporary monologues (1-2 min each); Monologues should showcase the actor’s emotional agility.  Must email resume and headshot and bring a physical copy of your resume and headshot to audition. rafaelfeliciano@caciquetaino.org.  

 

For Viva Teatro

In-person auditions; 1 musical piece that will be played with Bluetooth accompaniment, no pianist or accompanist will be provided/available.   Song must be from a Black/Latinx Musical Theater production (Broadway or off-Broadway) email song to rafaelfeliciano@caciquetaino.org.

Callbacks: by invitation on July 9th starting at 1 pm; reading from the script for American Made & Calling Puerto Rico. Dance routine and song choice by team for Viva Teatro.  

 

Rehearsals: Begin week of August 1st. Rehearsals Sunday afternoons, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings until tech week.

 

TECH WEEK is Saturday-Thursday, Dates TBA (February or March of 2023), 6-10 p.m at 7 Angels Theater

 

Performances:

Friday – Sunday,  February or March 2023 – Calling Puerto Rico (2 Weekend Run)

Thursday – Sunday – September 2023 - Viva Teatro

All performances are at 7:00 p.m. except Sundays which are at 3 pm.
