Northwest Connecticut BIPOC LGBTQIA+ Healing & Strengthening Retreat in the Hills


The Northwest Connecticut BIPOC LGBTQIA+ Healing & Strengthening Retreat addresses a critical need for a safe, supportive space for individuals at the intersection of multiple marginalized identities. BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) LGBTQIA+ individuals face unique challenges that often go unrecognized in mainstream LGBTQIA+ spaces. The retreat offers a holistic and culturally relevant approach to healing, resilience-building, and empowerment tailored to this group’s needs.One central issue the retreat addresses is the compounded discrimination BIPOC LGBTQIA+ individuals experience. They often face not only homophobia and transphobia but also racial and ethnic prejudices that disproportionately affect BIPOC communities. This intersectional discrimination can lead to higher rates of mental health issues, substance abuse, homelessness, and violence.
