How Change Happens
ACCC's Theory of Change recognizes that arts and culture are not separate from community development—they are vehicles for it. When ACCC invests in cultural programming, organizational infrastructure, partnerships, and community relationships, it creates the conditions for people to connect with their heritage and with one another.
Through arts and culture, ACCC creates opportunities for people to see themselves, their histories, and their traditions represented and celebrated. Cultural expression becomes a pathway to education, identity, storytelling, preservation, and belonging.
Through youth leadership, young people move from being participants to becoming leaders, creators, educators, and decision-makers. They develop confidence in their identities, learn from elders and cultural practitioners, and gain the skills to shape their communities.
Through community healing, ACCC creates spaces where generations can reconnect, relationships can be strengthened, and communities can address the impacts of cultural erasure, exclusion, and disconnection through creativity, dialogue, restoration, and collective care.
Through civic engagement, community members transform cultural connection into civic participation. They become more equipped to advocate for their communities, build partnerships, participate in public life, and influence the systems and decisions that affect their futures.
Together, these pathways build community power—the relationships, knowledge, confidence, leadership, cultural connection, and collective capacity necessary for communities to determine and shape their own futures.
